The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national nonprofit organization that fights in courts, legislatures, and communities to protect the constitutional rights of all people.
In the last 3 years, 24 states have banned hormone therapy for youth with gender dysphoria. Everyday more and more politicians are attempting to restrict lifesaving health care - from access to abortion to hormone therapy for trans youth. Tennessee is one such state. The ACLU and their partners are headed to the Supreme Court on December 4th to strike down TN’s ban on hormone therapy for trans youth, on behalf of three families with transgender children, and a Memphis-based physician.
At its core, this case (U.S. v Skrmetti) is about whether trans people are protected under the Constitution like everyone else. Our argument: We the people means all the people.
